MSh is FINALLY returning to OC! The Anaheim House of Blues didn’t exist back in the day so we are really excited to be playing there. We have tons of history with the guys in Starpool and stoked that they invited us to play. We have known some of those guys since Ball Jr. High! Don’t wait too long to buy tickets- cheap show + great bands means this show will be packed. Be sure to RSVP on the facebook event page.

My Superhero rocks House of Blues, San Diego. Photo by Jennifer Gilmore
What an awesome weekend! We were offered a couple of back to back shows with Five Iron Frenzy– the first was at the Glass House (unannounced because of our June 30th show) FIF sold out the show in days and tickets were being sold as high as $250! The last time we played with FIF was at the Nile Theater in AZ way back in 2000. Huge thanks to Sunny (ex-Jeffries Fan Club guitarist) for hooking us up! The next show was at the House of Blues in San Diego. This was our first time playing there and we hope to play again asap. The staff there was amazing- the sound guys were top notch, great food, even the security guys were cool. Five Iron Frenzy has some dedicated fans- we heard that people came from all over the US to see them reunite! All around, a great weekend. Cool band, amazing fans, and we hope to get the opportunity to rock with them again soon.

See you all at the Glass House this Saturday for the Codename: Rocky & For Petes Sake reunion show!
My Superhero recorded their first album entitled “SKAteboard Music” in 1995 in the drummers home studio. 2 years later, they decided to go to a real studio and re-record the album. The album was released/distributed by Vegas Records in 1998. Vegas Records owner Jon Halperin ended up managing My Superhero in 1999. The 2nd version of this album is now on iTunes!

The story behind the album title:
Third wave SKA started to get popular in the late 90’s- many of the traditional SKA fans did not appreciate their music being hijacked by the 3rd-wavers. They would usually show up at the shows to heckle the bands playing. I’m not sure what show or when it happened- but a group of skinheads were not exactly enjoying our brand of SKA. In-between songs, one the guys yelled (and I quote) “This ain’t SKA, this is SKATEBOARD MUSIC!” Since we grew up skateboarding, we took it as a compliment and named our first album after it!
June 30th- another big reunion show! Don’t miss this one- buy pre-sale tickets below:

Huge thanks goes out to the Bats for inviting us on a little road trip to the old Nile Theater! It has been a REALLY long time and the Nile was always one of our favorite tour stops back in the day. Looking forward to the caravan with all the guys- and I really mean caravan (since we no longer own a 15 passenger van) From this show, the Aquabats, GOGO13, and MSh will travel to Las Vegas for the Viva Ska Vegas show!
If you didn’t hear- the world famous Skatalites were recently added to the Viva Ska Vegas show!

Stay tuned for a major show announcement in Las Vegas coming in April 2012!
I’m trying to think of the last time we played with the Aquabats… 1998 maybe? We did a national tour with them in 1998 and I can honestly say we had more fun than any other time on the road. So many hilarious stories and seriously the reason I met my wife. We first met the Aquabats back in 1994 at a tiny place in Fullerton called Cafe Nove. From there on out- we played dozens of shows with The Aqua Bats and Reel Big Fish. It was a common sight to see all 3 bands on the same night back in those days. I’m sure you have all followed the success of Yo Gabba Gabba and if you have been living under a rock- the release of their very own “AQUABATS SUPER SHOW” coming this fall on the HUB network. We are so excited to be part of this show on Nov. 5th and can’t thank the Bats enough for asking us to play with them after 11 years.
Don’t miss this show!
My Superhero flies again! New show just confirmed! I want to say the last time we played with the bats was during their national tour in 1998. Good friends, good times! We played together for the first time back in 1994 at Cafe Nove in Fullerton!
Buy your tickets asap- this will sell out in the next few days. Make sure to RSVP on our event page on Facebook. Support your local superhero!
I was digging through some old boxes and came across a VHS tape. I thought this footage was long gone! Stoked!
